Caroline was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters  in Watercolour (RSW) in 1999. She has a large following both in England and Scotland and we continue to be delighted with the response to her  work. Her style is easily recognisable, and her still lifes and  seascapes, in watercolour and gouache, are much sought after. Carolines love of the sea is long standing, and goes back to her first visit to  the Western Isles of Scotland more than twenty years ago. The weather  and the northern light create an atmosphere which inspires her to paint  her interpretation of a subject rather than accurately recording a  composition. Her still lifes take on a light and mood of their own,  with a great feeling for her subject. During 1997 she won the Artist  Award at the Royal Watercolour Society. Caroline Bailey studied at  Manchester Polytechnic, gaining a B.A. in 1975 and an M.A. in 1976.  After leaving college, she taught part-time until the 1980s. Since then she has continued to work on a freelance basis, exhibiting regularly in England. She has had major solo exhibitions in London, Chester,  Dublin, Manchester and the Cotswolds. Selected mixed exhibitions  include the Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal Institute of Painters  in Watercolour and the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in  Watercolour.
