Sidney Perrin 1908- 1987

Sidney Perrin was born in South East London and studied at the Camberwell School of Art and the Bolt Court School of Art and Engraving, London. He was appointed staff artist and subsequently Art Editor of the Financial Times until his retirement. He also illustrated books and produced graphics for television programmes. During his period at the Times he also painted in watercolour and many of his works were exhibited at the Royal Institute, Guildhall in the City of London and at other London exhibitions.

He developed his painting technique in the portrayal of landscapes in watercolour, predominantly of southwest Somerset but also had a love for Cornwall and North Wales. His contribution to the Minehead Painters Group cannot be over estimated, but it was his annual one-man show held at Whitsun, that was such a feature of the arts calendar in the area.
